Fisher Catholic High School's Academic Program
Fisher Catholic offers a college preparatory curriculum, with some classes divided according to ability. Advanced Placement (AP), College Credit Plus (CCP) and Honors courses are offered throughout the curriculum. Students can choose elective courses which are career oriented or of a high level of interest to them.
Many students complete the process (with the state of Ohio and the college/university of their choice) to enroll in College Credit Plus (CCP) courses. In addition to the seemingly unlimited options available through area colleges/universities, FCHS also has CCP options available as part of the courses offered on campus. These are two distinctly different options.
CCP Option 1: Students complete enrollment in CCP with the college/university and the request for funding through the Ohio Department of Education. This process occurs the year prior to when the courses will be taken (i.e. If a student plans to take CCP courses through OU in 11th grade, they must begin the application process during the winter of 10th grade. While FC attempts to help students/families with this process, it is truly the responsibility of the student to complete applications with both the college/university (for CCP courses) and the Ohio Department of Education (to pay for the courses).
AP Courses: Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Composition, English Literature, European History, Physics, PreCalculus, Psychology, United States Government, United States History.
Electives, Project Lead The Way, & Vocational Options
In addition to the college prep curriculum, Fisher Catholic also offers electives and vocational partnerships that can be of assistance in making career choices, as well as becoming involved in campus life and activities. Fisher Catholic structures classes for students with learning disabilities, enabling those students to participate to the best of their abilities in the FCHS experience. Students determine the Career Center located within their address, meet directly with the staff for application and acceptance. FCHS staff will work with students to select the remaining courses to complete graduation requirements.
Project Lead The Way (PLTW) complements traditional college-preparatory academic studies with challenging career/technical studies, providing students with hands-on exposure to real-life engineering or biomedical challenges. PLTW brings innovative project-based learning that incorporates science, technology, engineering, and math. PLTW empowers students to develop and apply in-demand, transportable skills by exploring real-world challenges in an exciting and engaging way.
