Fisher Catholic High School has taken a significant step towards ensuring the health and wellbeing of its students by joining the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This move underscores the school’s commitment to fostering a nurturing environment that promotes healthy eating habits among students.
The NSLP is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. By participating in this program, Fisher Catholic ensures that every student, regardless of their economic background, will have access to a nutritious lunch.
As of October 2023, Fisher Catholic reported an enrollment of 139 students, all of whom will benefit from this vital initiative. By providing affordable, healthy meals, we can ensure that our students are well-fed and ready to learn. Proper nutrition is closely tied to academic success, and the NSLP aims to bridge the gap between nutrition and education.
In addition to joining the NSLP, Fisher Catholic continues to encourage nutrition education and physical education to foster lifelong habits of healthy living. These initiatives, in combination with the NSLP, create a comprehensive approach to student wellness.
Fisher Catholic’s participation in the NSLP also signifies its commitment to equality and inclusivity. The school does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, or any other factor. By ensuring that all students have access to nutritious meals, Fisher Catholic is leveling the playing field and giving every student an equal opportunity to succeed.
Remember that it takes a village to raise a child. With the support of the NSLP, parents, teachers, and the community at large can rest assured that Fisher Catholic students are being provided with the necessary tools to flourish both acadically and personally.
Join us in celebrating this milestone and supporting our students in their journey towards excellence. Here’s to healthy meals and even healthier futures at Fisher Catholic High School!
